About Us

The Black Student Union is a service organization which serves as a bonding force for all students of color at Emporia State University. The goals of BSU are largely aimed at bringing about an atmosphere on the ESU campus in which African American students can be academically motivated, culturally stimulated, and have an outlet to voice opinions, express views, and adjust to the ESU campus environment. The organization also provides social activities that are geared towards, but not exclusive to the African American community. Meaning all students are welcome and encouraged to join this organization. BSU will make its contribution to the cultural diversity of the ESU community by developing a wide range of programs that will be of great service to the entire ESU community. BSU strives to bridge the gap between African Americans and the broader ESU community. To achieve this goal, we will need ideas, insight, and experiences of the student membership, faculty, staff, and all others committed to improving the cultural, political, and social well being of students at Emporia State University.
