About Us
The Chinese Students and Scholar Association (CSSA) at Emporia State University (ESU) is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and diverse community by promoting Chinese culture and heritage. As a Recognized Student Organization (RSO), CSSA offers various activities, including Chinese language tutoring. In particular, the Chinese tutoring program is available nearly every semester, this tutoring is not only open to ESU campus but also to the local community at Emporia. The purpose of this tutoring is to help everyone who is interested in learning Chinese. The association actively participates in a range of events on campus, such cultural show and international food festival. CSSA also collaborates with Chinese holiday events in Kansas City, enriching the cultural landscape of the university. Overall, CSSA aims to create a welcoming environment for Chinese students at ESU, helping them connect with each other while sharing the richness of Chinese traditions and values with the broader community.

Being a member of the Chinese Students and Scholar Association (CSSA) at Emporia State University (ESU) enjoy numerous benefits, including cultural enrichment through events and celebrations that promote Chinese heritage. They have access to Chinese language tutoring, fostering language skills and academic success. CSSA also provides a supportive community, allowing members to build friendships and connections with fellow students. Additionally, members can participate in various campus and community activities, this also includes a short culture trip, students can gain leadership experience, and share their culture, enhancing cross-cultural understanding within the ESU community. Overall, CSSA offers a valuable network and resources that enrich the student experience.
Projects & Initiatives
Food Festival: We are very interested to join the Food Festival every year. But, we do
not have a certain number of students who are willing to participate this year yet, we
think the date and time is about 20th April, 2027, in the Web Hall, MU.
Promotion event: For each academic year, we will have tabling events and support ASG
and OIE annual events. Our goals are to introduce and preserve Chinese traditional
culture in the heart of Mid-west US. Specifically, we provide various activities like
Chinese papercutting, calligraphy, traditional painting.
Chinese language tutoring: three to four people. from September 7th to the end of fall
semester in 2026, we will actively communicate with our students to determine the
schedule. The location and time can be flexible to fit in different schedule.
Culture Trip to Houston (Not confirmed): During the Spring break in Spring semester
2027.
