About Us

The Chinese Students and Scholar Association (CSSA) at Emporia State University (ESU) is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and diverse community by promoting Chinese culture and heritage. As a Recognized Student Organization (RSO), CSSA offers various activities, including Chinese language tutoring available nearly every semester, this tutoring is open to everybody that lived in Emporia, the purpose of this tutoring is to help foreigners learning Chinese. The association actively participates in a range of events on campus and occasionally collaborates with activities in Kansas City, enriching the cultural landscape of the university. At its core, CSSA aims to create a welcoming environment for Chinese students at ESU, helping them connect with each other while sharing the richness of Chinese traditions and values with the broader community.

Membership Benefits

Being a member of the Chinese Students and Scholar Association (CSSA) at Emporia State University (ESU) enjoy numerous benefits, including cultural enrichment through events and celebrations that promote Chinese heritage. They have access to Chinese language tutoring, fostering language skills and academic success. CSSA also provides a supportive community, allowing members to build friendships and connections with fellow students. Additionally, members can participate in various campus and community activities, this also includes a short culture trip, students can gain leadership experience, and share their culture, enhancing cross-cultural understanding within the ESU community. Overall, CSSA offers a valuable network and resources that enrich the student experience.

Projects & Initiatives

  • Food Festival: We are very interested to join the Food Festival every year. But, we do not have a certain number of students who are willing to participate this year yet, but I think the date and time is about 20th April, 2025, in the Web Hall, MU.
  • Chinese language tutoring: three to four people. from September 7th to the end of fall semester in 2025, we do not have a certain time for this tutoring, because each tutor would schedule different time with their student.
  • Culture Trip to Chicago (Not confirmed): During the Fall break in Fall semester 2025.
