About Us
Not afraid to get philosophical? Join our club where we will do just that. We will dive into tricky philosophical questions, apply critical theory to popular media (T.V. shows, movies, songs, anime, video games, fan fiction, and more!), and find fun and new ways to teach philosophy to the masses. The discussions may get deep, but we believe in creating a light-hearted atmosphere that makes learning playful, curious, and interactive. If you like to challenge yourself intellectually, get teaching experience, and/or meet like-minded individuals, this is the place for you. All majors are welcomed to join in on these fun conversations hosted at Middle Ground Books!
Membership Benefits
This club is a great opportunity to build critical thinking skills and create community. In this club, people will be able to meet others who are inquisitive and excited to learn. We will be creating unique lesson plans for teaching philosophy to middle school students. This is a great opportunity for Education majors to get teaching experience. Furthermore, our discussions of critical theory will help us become more informed on social issues so that we can spread awareness and protest. Students will be able to take what they learn in this club and apply it to their classwork and day-to-day lives.
Projects & Initiatives
- We will have 4-6 opportunities Spring semester to model philosophical questioning to middle schoolers at EMS.
