About Us
The Student Chapter of the American Library Association (SCALA) at Emporia State University is dedicated to the educational, professional, service, and social enrichment of the students of the School of Library and Information Management program.
Membership Benefits
Any student in the School of Library and Information Management is welcome to join SCALA. Membership is free of charge and open all students of Emporia State University interested in librarianship and archives.
Projects & Initiatives
We meet once a month to discuss business, plan events, and catch up with our fellow SLIM students! For more information, check out our social media pages, or reach out to one of our officers.
To foster community among SLIM students, SCALA is proud to host a monthly book club! For more information, you can visit our social media pages on Facebook and Instagram, or refer to the SLIMinfo updates which are sent to SLIM students. All are welcome to join us via Zoom for a casual and friendly meetup to discuss a variety of different books and media.
This fall, SCALA hosted ALA President-Elect Maria McCauley for a Q&A discussion in which she shared her journey to her current position, as well as advice for professional development in the library field.
